Segmentation

The purpose of the segmentation algorithm is to cluster signals that originate from the same defect, or from different parts of a single defect. Unlike purely geometrical approaches that rely only on spatial proximity, this method applies a more robust association strategy to improve accuracy. Segmentation operates on experimental or simulated ultrasonic data to identify and group echoes into distinct segments. Depending on the application, segmentation can be performed in 2D (on a single scan line) or in 3D (across multiple consecutive scan lines).
